Dear Ole Sweetie Pie,

If you're going to get sick we'll have to sit at home and chew on aspirins.  You had better stay chipper.  I do enough worrying when you're in good shape.  One thing though, sick or well, you'll look plenty good to me, from any angle.

Hey, when I hit the Chicago city limits, I'm going to relax completely.  You do all of the planning.  We'll go any place you say.  If you want we'll take Grandma to the L and L and throw a party.  I'll be in for an ocean voyage pretty soon so the sky's the limit.

So far everything is going along as planned.  Fifteen days and I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places.  Let's tear up the town.  I hope we get a romantic cab driver.  Yum yum yum.

I'm enclosing Johnnie's letter requesting fruitcake and a fountain pen.  That should satisfy the postal authorities.  Seems like a damn silly rule.  Send him as much fruitcake as you can.

I'm going to write to Myles at Motor Ex. and tell him all about it.  If he wants to he can tell Mom.  It'll probably end up that I'll be the one getting the surprise.

I've finished all my bombing and for the past two weeks have been doing some fancy navigating.  We were told that we were going to be sent to a light bombardment group.  That means B25's , 26's or A - 20's.  I'd rather have heavies but I guess they need the fast stuff more.  I'll have to work like a madman on a small ship.  I'll be both Bombardier and Navigator.  Oh well, if I keep busy I'll keep out of trouble - I hope.

We have classes today and I have to try and tag back in a couple of minutes.  I'm still pretty excited and not sure of what I'm doing.  Fifteen days is so long to wait.  Sometimes I think maybe I'll blow up.  I sure will be a peaceful person when this war ends.  Oh Gee Golly.  It's been so long since I've seen you.  That's the toughest thing about the whole affair.

I've got to shove off, Darling.  Go to the Dog and get yourself in shape.  We can have a wonderful time together.

Bye for now

All my love

Ray.
