About artist Cindy Boyd:

Born in 1975, I'm a GenXer: print on demand artist and designer in the Chicago area.   I design new products daily. Read My Blog Cindy Print on Demand artist.    For what gives me motivation to keep going...besides music and family, and other artists:  I am active on X, the social network formerly known asTwitter, Youtube, on Instagram  and The new Meta network Threads which I am not terribly active on. Round the way I started a new Facebook fanpage with a post now and then. Please follow me on these!  Cindy Boyd on Flickr

I first started painting in oils at 12 when my grandmother who was also a painter taught me how to do an underpainting in ultramarine blue.  If you scroll back far enough through my flickr, you can see all my early work which i only have photographs of.  When I made the jump from house to apartment I ditched the mile high stack of 18x24 pastel and charcoal work.   Half was student work, half was on my own.  At 14 I went from drawing celebrities out of the tv guide to getting a set of pastels and at 15 I took my first nude figure drawing class.  Later in my twenties while i was a history major I did only a few works, mostly pastel figures with fanciful landscapes.  Though Iv'e been using Photoshop since the nineties.. before it had layers, in 1997 I was published in a digital arts low circulation magazine called The Computer Artist's Forum.  In my thirties I made peyote stitch jewelry and soy candles and sold at galleries local.  In my late thirties I started an online degree in graphic design.  Finished in my forties.  This is when I got into Print on Demand, around about 2011.  I have had a store or been in a marketplace since then.  I had quite a digital collection.  In 2016 I had a breakdown due to lack of the right meds and wound up homeless till 2018.  Easter Sunday 2018 I knocked on my fathers door and asked to come home and soon after found the right meds again and poured my soul into print on demand as a supplemental income for my disability.  I have struggled with my mental health for over twenty years, but still come back to the computer with a full bevy of creativity.  Its my home.  I live independently and continue to work that way as well.  I keep a scedule of bed between 9 and 11 and up between 4 and six.  I am excited to work everyday, even if its only to accomplish one 40 minute drawing or design six products.  I use the money I make to pay for art supplies, graphics tools like my new ipad and apple pencil, and sometimes I even manage to order a pizza.

I also use the money I make to order and review print on demand goods that I design.  I have not been dissapointed yet.  Printing is almost always tru to color and sizing has been right on for the most part which is difficult because I am plus sized.  In print on demand I try to find companies that go up to 3x or 4x... not just for me but for all out there shopping.  I thank you for reading, following and sharing.  Buying, though a rarity, does happen.  A couple years ago when the economy was good i was selling something everyday somewhere on the web.  Now I have a sale about once a week, but am hopeful as I have learned the program Procreate on the Ipad more and more art will eventually translate into more sales.  So here I am keepin it fresh.  The front page changes everyday.  Check back like a wildly underground fashion mag and see what cooks...everyday.  Make it a morning coffee looksee and take advantage of our wishlist to organize your finds before you buy.  I list publicly all my suppliers so you can do research.  The first four years of this website was Blue daisy emporium.  Then I took six months off and the domain became disconnected so I chose something snappier!  Cindy Boyd Art.   shop.  browse. share.  buy.    Support my whiles as an indie artist.

One note.  I do Raster imagery.  Not vector.  I never learned vector.  Not well enough to be creative with it.  My work is hand drawn.  squiggles and all.  If you are looking for a t-shirt store you are sorely mistaken.  My graphics are all over print for the most part with some cut outs here and there.  I also use over 1000 high res scanned slides from sixties and seventies trips to europe by my family for unique vintage wear and sundries like bags.  again, thank you for taking the time to get to know an artist.

i lost my dad in 2021 to stomach cancer.  I lost his father and my grandfather in 1990, but he left a legacy of 200 plus letters written to what would become my grandmother from the US Army Airforce during WWII.  I have made it my ambition to transcribe these letters and create a book.  Right now im three quarters through and have a blog on this site and blogspot, as well as a podcast where I read two letters a week.  It tells a simple times love story despite the war going on around them.  I also have six of their travel journals this time written by my grandmother.  Two of which are published on Kindle and paperback.. links in the footer.  As I approach my fiftieth birthday I note my grandparents were born over 100 years ago.  It is something to be able to share their footprint.

I trained in studio art long ago and earned my degree in graphic design about ten years ago. I have been In the Print On Demand World ever since and started this site a couple years ago.  My favorite art movements are Medieval Dutch miniturists, Surrealism, Impressionist, expressionism, Pre raphealites, Dada   Some of My favorite artists are Rene Magritte, Kathe Kollowitz, Georgia O'Keefe, Rodin, Peter Brughel The Elder, Heyronomous Bosch, Edward Munch, Talouse Latrec, Leonetto Cappiello, Degas, Mark Rothko, Delacroix, geigher. My favorite design eras are art nouveau and victorian but I am getting into retro sixties seventies a bit more. My style is characterized by bold color and crisp detail with the sketch realism that comes with hand drawing raster images with my wacom tablet or apple pencil.  I have two adult children, both girls,
