May 24, 1967 wed.

Started out at 8:00 am from Roma - beautiful day - terra firma - again marvelous - hills and mountains of Tuscany country again.  Seen many oxen, little hay housesStopped at lovely lake along the way.  Lago Volsena where I skipped stones! Also Santa Rosa..red clover - picture everywhere.  Taverns - holiday coming up about Corpus Christi.  Going Northwest now, rest stop at Sienna.  Charming, clean, restful little town - On to Pisa through more of Tuscany country - thrilling, frightening, twisting mountain roads again- we got lost again and finally got to Pisa at about 6:00 pm.  Got to tower and I climbed the stairs to second level to get the eerie effect of leaning.  The tower and cathedral and baptistry are all absolutely beautiful.  On to Hotel -  Room so so but happy with it more room and a nice bath.  On to supper - good beef and soup and spinach - good white wine.  Take short walk with Peg and Greg - town is also charming and clean.  Stop for capuccino and sweets and home to bed.
